Santa Cruz Chorale Guest Concert with the New Choir on Sunday

Hello dear Music Friends,

Don’t forget  that the New Choir will be our guests in Santa Cruz this Sunday, March 26, 2017!

The New Choir, known for exquisite blend and masterful musicianship, are our guests for one day only. We look forward to singing a few selections with the group, which has existed since 2000 and has already made its mark: the choir receives frequent requests for guest performances in the San Francisco Bay area and, in March of 2006, was honored with an invitation to perform at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Western Division Convention where the choir’s performance was received very warmly. Recently, the New Choir received a Golden Diploma in the 2016 Golden State Chorale Trophy Competition in Monterey.

One of the songs featured in this concert is “Arirang” (아리랑; [a.ɾi.ɾaŋ]), which is a Korean folk song, often considered as the unofficial national anthem of Korea. In December 2012, South Korea’s submission of the song was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity program by UNESCO. [Wikipedia]

Join us on a sonic journey that takes us on an international adventure from the world of Romantic composers to the evocations of nature by contemporary composers from the Baltic nations, Scandinavia, Canada, Indonesia, and South Korea.
