At this point in the season, we Santa Cruz Chorale singers are now finding ourselves humming the Christmas concert selections over and over, sometimes even in our sleep! Some of the pieces are the ones we must carefully, painstakingly work on for weeks, before they can be sung to our satisfaction. Others are joyfully easy and we quickly resume mastery. But all of the pieces this year have been chosen by Maestro Grube because they have been favorites of our audience.
Of the concerts from the last decade, which pieces were your favorites? If you have received your postcard, have you already seen familiar favorites listed?
Do you prefer the often lively carols from other countries, such as “Riu Riu Chiu” or “Guillo Pran Ton Tamborin?” Or perhaps you have been captivated by the clusters of shimmery chords in Eric Whitacre’s “Lux Arumque?”
